Job Summary

The General Laborer is responsible for providing support to various departments by performing physical tasks and manual labor as required. This role involves assisting with job site preparation, material handling, equipment setup, and basic maintenance tasks. The General Laborer works under the supervision of the crew leader or supervisor, following all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure efficient project completion. The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, and capable of performing a variety of tasks in varying work environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Site Preparation and Cleanup:

    • Assist with preparing job sites, including setting up temporary fencing, laying protective coverings, and organizing materials.
    • Perform site cleanup during and after projects, ensuring all debris is removed, and the area is restored to its original condition.
    • Load and unload construction or project materials from trucks and trailers, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  2. Support Project Activities:

    • Provide support for skilled laborers, technicians, or crew members as directed.
    • Assist with basic demolition, excavation, painting, or minor repairs as needed.
    • Handle, move, and install basic tools and equipment under the supervision of a senior team member.
  3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

    • Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and small machinery as required, adhering to all safety guidelines.
    • Assist with equipment maintenance and minor repairs, ensuring tools and machinery are in good working condition.
    • Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor immediately.
  4. Material Handling and Inventory:

    • Assist with the transportation of materials around job sites, including moving supplies, storing equipment, and organizing inventory.
    • Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of materials used or required for the project.
  5. Safety Compliance and Protocols:

    • Follow all safety regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), adhering to safe lifting techniques, and reporting hazards.
    • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks as required.
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
  6. Other Duties as Assigned:

    • Perform other general labor tasks as required, supporting project teams and ensuring timely completion of assignments.
    • Assist with special projects or emergency tasks as directed by the supervisor or project manager.
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in construction, restoration, or general labor is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), carrying, bending, and standing for long periods.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and machinery operation is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
